Buying plates
DPS vitrified porcelain runs right through this range: Porcelite wide rims and coupes for everyday cover counts, pizza plates up to 32cm, and coloured glazes like Oatmeal, Sea Spray and Modest Green for kitchens that want the plate to do some of the plating. Prices run from a couple of pounds for a 16cm side plate to the mid-teens for a Line Gold Band pasta plate, with case packs and premium lines going well above that.
Pick the shape before the colour. A coupe hides nothing and suits stacked, saucy food; a wide rim frames a small portion and gives the pass somewhere to wipe. Then settle on three sizes at most, because every extra size is another shelf to stock and another line to reorder.
