Buying Zwiesel

Zwiesel Fortessa makes glassware for professional hospitality under three names. Zwiesel Glas is the premium brand, with more than 150 years of glassmaking expertise behind it. Schott Zwiesel is the professional brand, founded in 1872 in the Bavarian town of Zwiesel and today a leading supplier of glassware to restaurants and hotels worldwide. Both are made from Tritan crystal glass: break resistant, dishwasher safe, clear and brilliant, with the distinctive ring of crystal when two glasses touch. Fortessa is the contemporary house: soda-lime glass in modern shapes, colours and textures, dishwasher safe and made for everyday hospitality use.

Churchill partnered with Zwiesel Fortessa in 2026 to bring the glassware to UK hospitality alongside its tableware, and Lordwell, as a Churchill partner, stocks the full UK range: 129 lines across 18 ranges, held in UK stock by Churchill in Stoke-on-Trent. Every glass is priced per glass and sold in boxes of six. Order online on trade account terms, or call the team on 01827 216260 to talk through a glass for every pour.

Zwiesel: common questions

How are the glasses priced?

Per glass, ex VAT, and sold in boxes of six. Add one to the basket and six go in, because a box of six is the unit Churchill ships. The one exception is the Schott Zwiesel Ever decanter, which is priced and sold singly.

What is Tritan crystal glass, and how does it compare with lead crystal?

Tritan is the crystal glass Zwiesel Glas and Schott Zwiesel are made from. It is break resistant, dishwasher safe and clear and brilliant, with a distinctive sound, and it is food safe. Traditional lead crystal is prized for its weight and sparkle but is softer and is usually washed by hand. Tritan is made for the professional dishwasher and the pace of a restaurant, and keeps the clarity and ring of crystal.

Can they go in the dishwasher?

Yes. Every glass is dishwasher safe. Tritan is made for professional washing and Fortessa's Jupiter tumblers, in soda-lime glass, are made for everyday hospitality use. We do not publish a cycle count, because the number depends on your machine, your chemicals and how the glasses are handled between washes.

Which glass for which wine?

A wide bowl for reds that need air: a Burgundy glass for Pinot Noir and lighter reds, a Bordeaux or Cabernet glass for fuller reds. A narrower bowl for whites: Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay shapes keep a white fresh and focused. If one glass has to cover the whole menu, choose a universal shape: Move, Sensa and Refract each have one, and Perfect Match No.1 is drawn for red and white with No.2 for rosé and sparkling. Sparkling wine goes in a flute or a tall sparkling wine glass.

Can we mix ranges?

Yes. Every Zwiesel Glas and Schott Zwiesel range is Tritan crystal glass, so a Banquet water glass beside a Viña wine glass reads as one set. A common approach is a working range such as Banquet or Viña across the floor and a Zwiesel Glas range such as Move or Belfesta for the tasting menu. Fortessa's Jupiter tumblers are soda-lime glass in clear, smoke, blue, sage and purple, and bring colour to a table set with either.

Are they in stock in the UK?

Yes. Churchill holds the UK Zwiesel stock in Stoke-on-Trent and Lordwell stocks the full range of 129 lines. Delivery is free to the UK mainland on orders over 125 GBP ex VAT, and trade accounts run on 30 day terms. Call 01827 216260 to confirm availability on larger quantities.

Are the prices shown with or without VAT?

Both. Use the VAT switch on the site to show prices ex VAT or inc VAT. Trade customers usually work ex VAT. Either way, the price shown is per glass and the box of six is what you buy.

What happens when a glass breaks?

Breakages are part of running a bar, and Tritan is made to reduce them, not to end them. Because every line is held in UK stock and sold by the box of six, replacing a few glasses means ordering another box of the same code, so the set stays matched. We do not publish a warranty for glassware. If a box arrives damaged, call us on 01827 216260 with the code and the number of glasses and we will deal with it.
