Buying Prodis

Prodis is the value name that runs a remarkable share of Britain's back bars: bottle coolers, display fridges, counters and warewashers that do the job, keep doing it, and do not ask a premium for it. The core range carries two years parts and labour as standard, and the current LE generation is built around low-energy running: R600a refrigerant, LED lighting and efficient fans, so the cabinet that costs less to buy also costs less to run.

The spread covers a full venue. NT back bar bottle coolers run from the single-door NT1BH to the triple sliding-door NT3BS, in black or stainless, with full-height upright versions (NT10, NT20) where volume matters. Front of house, the XD and XMD display fridges handle grab-and-go, up to the panoramic frameless-glass multideck. In the kitchen, GRN and EC gastronorm counters (including sandwich and pizza prep versions with refrigerated wells and granite tops) cover prep, and the AR stainless-lidded chest freezers handle bulk frozen. Behind the bar sink, JET and EV glasswashers and the JET100 and T1215 hood dishwashers close the loop.

Choosing is mostly about doors and width: hinged doors need swing room, sliders work in tight runs, and a triple-door cooler only earns its keep if you restock daily rather than per session. Prodis: common questions

What warranty do Prodis units carry?

Two years parts and labour on the core range — bottle coolers, display fridges, counters, chest freezers and the heavy-duty EV glasswashers and T1215 dishwasher. The entry-level JET40P glasswasher and JET100 dishwasher carry one year parts and labour. In every case the cover includes the engineer's visit, not just the part.

What does the LE in Prodis model names mean?

Low energy. The current generation runs R600a hydrocarbon refrigerant, LED lighting and efficient fan motors, which together cut consumption sharply against older cabinets — typical back bar coolers in the range run around 1-2 kWh per 24 hours. For a unit that runs 24/7, that difference usually pays the price gap within the first year or two.

Hinged or sliding doors on a bottle cooler?

Hinged doors seal best and are self-closing, but each door needs swing room in front of the cabinet. Sliding doors need no swing space, so they suit tight bar runs where staff work back-to-back, and two people can pull stock at once — the trade-off is a slightly less positive seal. If the bar aisle is under about a metre, go sliding; otherwise it is preference.

Which glasswasher do I need: JET or EV?

JET40P is the entry point: a 400mm-basket glasswasher with a drain pump fitted, right for a steady bar on a 13A supply. The EV40 and EV50 are the heavy-duty option for venues that never stop, with the EV50's 500mm baskets taking pint trays and small plates — note it wants a 30-amp supply. If you are washing plates as well as glasses at volume, step up to the JET100 or T1215 hood machines.

Is delivery included, and how fast is it?

Yes — free kerbside delivery on a 2-3 working day service, subject to stock, on every unit. Next-working-day is available for a small premium, and positioning or installation help can be arranged if the site needs it. Tell us about stairs, tight doorways or timed access up front and we will plan the delivery around it.

Are Prodis gastro counters GN compatible?

Yes. The GRN counters are full-depth 1/1 GN with side-mounted compressors (full-height storage, easy service access), and the EC compact series uses an under-mounted compressor to fit under standard-height benching, still GN compatible with shelves and runners included. The prep versions add refrigerated topping wells — 1/6 pans on the sandwich unit and 1/4 pans plus a granite top on the pizza counter.
