Buying Gram Professional

Gram has made professional refrigeration in Vojens, Denmark since 1901, and in 2026 the factory turns 125. That continuity shows up in the engineering rather than the brochure: doors are tested past 800,000 openings, roughly fifteen years of daily kitchen use, hinges and gaskets are built to be serviced rather than scrapped, and the cabinets run on natural refrigerants with LED lighting and self-closing doors to keep running costs down. Every core cabinet carries five years parts and labour as standard, which tells you how long Gram expects its own product to last.

The range splits cleanly. Compact cabinets are 600mm-wide uprights in 200, 400 and 600 sizes, in white or stainless, with glass-door display versions for front of house. Maxi cabinets are the full-size GN 1/1 workhorses, from the ECO and Superior 700 singles up to the F1400 and C1400 double-door units, with the MIDI 650 series between. Gastro counters (two to four doors, customisable worktops) put refrigerated storage under your prep surface, and the blast and shock chillers (SC500, SC710 and the roll-in BC50) handle safe cooling at volume.

One Gram habit worth knowing: much of the range is sold as chillers rather than fridges. A chiller covers roughly -5 to +12°C rather than the +2 to +12°C of a plain refrigerator, so the same cabinet can hold fish, meat or standard chilled stock at the temperature each needs. How long is the Gram warranty, and what does it cover?

Five years parts and labour on the core cabinet range (Compact, Maxi, MIDI, gastro counters), which is among the longest standard cover in commercial refrigeration. The blast and shock chillers carry three years parts and labour. There is no registration trick: the warranty is the standard term on new units supplied through the UK partner network, and it covers both the part and the engineer's visit.

Are Gram cabinets really made in Denmark?

Yes. Gram Professional refrigeration is designed and manufactured at the company's factory in Vojens, Denmark, where it has built refrigeration since 1901 — 125 years in 2026. That single-factory continuity is a big part of why parts availability and build consistency are as good as they are.

What is the difference between a Gram chiller and a normal fridge?

Range. A standard refrigerator holds positive temperatures, roughly +2 to +12°C. A Gram chiller covers about -5 to +12°C, so the same cabinet can be set for fresh fish or meat as well as everyday chilled stock. If your menu changes seasonally, that flexibility is worth having, and it is why much of the Maxi range is sold as chillers rather than fridges.

Which Gram range do I need: Compact, Maxi or a gastro counter?

Compact if you are tight on width: 600mm-wide uprights in 200, 400 and 600 litre classes, including glass-door display versions. Maxi if you want the full-size GN 1/1 cabinet for the main kitchen, from single-door 650/700s up to the double-door 1400s. A gastro counter if you want the refrigeration under the worktop: two to four doors with customisable tops, so the prep surface and the storage share a footprint. Are Gram cabinets expensive to run?

They are engineered for the opposite. Natural hydrocarbon refrigerants, LED lighting, efficient insulation and self-closing doors keep consumption down: several models are A or B energy-rated, and even the big double-door cabinets are specified with 24-hour consumption figures you can check line by line on each product page. Over a cabinet's life the energy bill dwarfs the ticket price, which is exactly where Gram earns its keep.

How quickly can I get a Gram cabinet, and is delivery included?

Standard delivery is free on a 2-3 working day service, kerbside, subject to stock. Next-working-day is available for a small premium, and installation options (unpack, position, pack-away) can be arranged — tell us what the site needs.
